A Single Moment

Tonight I experienced one of those moments. One of those moments of sheer perfection. We were bathing the kids. The girls were ‘swimming’ in the bubbles. Steve was sitting on the tiles next to me with his guitar, playing U2 – sometimes he likes to do ‘musical bath time’ for the girls.
I love musical bath time. Zebby (our 5 month old Cav x Jack Russell puppy) was sitting on my lap while I scratched him behind the ears. And Stripe, our budgie, was flitting from the towel rack to the top of the shower screen while singing and chirping loudly. It was sort of chaotic – all six of us crammed in there for bath time – but it was also sort of magnificent. And I took a moment to just be. To just think, fuck I’m lucky. Seriously lucky.
